Go Home On Time

#GOHOMEONTIME

Mental health at work can be one of the subjects that people are frightened to talk about, but there are many ways to get help should you need it (see some of the links below). It is estimated three in ten employees will experience a mental health problem in any one year, and as we have ten employees I want to ensure my colleagues and friends stay mentally healthy!

Whitesides supporting Working Families Charity by going home on time on 21 June 2017

In 2015/16 it has been reported that stress accounted for 37% of all work related ill health cases, and 45% of all days lost at work. Below is a link to the Mental Health Foundation website which has some publications that you can order for more information:

One charity aiming to combat this is the Working Families Charity, and on Wednesday 21 June, the longest day of the year, they are promoting “Go Home On Time Day” and they recommend everyone leaves work on time and do something that you enjoy, whether that be spending time with your family, going out for a nice meal or even a stroll around your local park.

I recently saw a picture on social media from a different charity promoting being mentally healthy at work and they recommend:

  • Go home on time
  • Take a lunch break
  • Set realistic deadlines
  • Take your holiday leave
  • Allocate time to do the things you enjoy

In addition to these, as we’re a Yorkshire based accountancy firm, I’d like to add in a couple of my own:

  • Make time for tea breaks (Yorkshire Tea recommended, but other brands are available)!
  • Reduce some of your work stress by outsourcing your bookkeeping and accounting to us here at Whitesides!
