What is the Confirmation Statement?
How is this different to the annual return, and what does it mean to my business?
From June 2016 companies will no longer have to submit an annual return to Companies House, instead they will submit a confirmation statement.
Unlike the annual return, companies will be able to submit a confirmation statement any time they wish. They will however, have to make the statement at least every 12 months.
The confirmation statement will state that since the last confirmation statement was submitted the company has notified Companies House of any changes to its registered office, directors, company secretary, people with significant control and where the registers are kept.
In practice, there will be very few differences between the new confirmation statement and the annual return. However, companies may find it beneficial to submit the confirmation statement when they file their accounts.
