Semi-Senior / Senior Accountant Vacancy
Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (depending on experience, qualifications, and ability to manage client portfolios independently)
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
About the Us
We are a small, established firm of Chartered Accountants based in Leeds, providing a high-quality, personalised service to a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses and individuals. As a non-audit registered firm, our focus is on accounts preparation, tax compliance, and advisory services.
Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a capable and motivated Semi-Senior or Senior Accountant to join our team.
The Role
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with recent experience working within an accountancy practice. You will be responsible for preparing accounts and supporting clients across a range of sectors, working closely with senior staff and directors.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
- Preparation of management accounts where required
- Corporate tax computations and returns
- VAT return review and submissions
- Liaising directly with clients to gather information and resolve queries
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date client records
- Supporting junior staff (for senior-level candidates)
- Assisting with ad hoc advisory and project work
Essential Requirements
- Recent experience working in an accountancy practice environment
- Proven experience in accounts preparation for a variety of business types
- Strong working knowledge of accounting standards and compliance requirements
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or similar)
- Good understanding of tax compliance (corporate and/or personal)
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong communication skills and ability to deal directly with clients
Desirable
- AAT qualified / part-qualified or ACA part or fully qualified
- Experience reviewing work (for senior applicants)
- Ability to work independently and manage a workload
