Accountants in Leeds running away with it!

You wouldn’t normally associate your accountant with middle/long distance running, they are more likely to be chasing after receipts and tax codes! But here at Whitesides Chartered Accountants in Leeds we have been improving our fitness, losing weight and clocking up the miles in preparation for the Leeds 10k Corporate Challenge on 8 July, and if the 2017 results are anything to go by we are going to have some serious competition!

Not only are we looking to achieve some personal mile stones but also raise funds for Breast Cancer Haven, which is a charity close to us as a team. After Joanne was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008, the Haven team supported her through some tough times in the months following her treatment and a family bereavement.

Our team has a good mix of experience, both professionally and physically! Some of the team members have marathons under their belts and some have no running experience at all. The team is made up of office manager Adam (pictured, proud of his 71km in May, including a week off in Ibiza!), trainee accountant Gita who has just finished her first year exams, bookkeeper Leo and accountants Sarah & the newest member of the team Sean.

Adam has been pounding the pavements around the office after doing the school run while Sarah has been running the more scenic areas of Horsforth with her husband and dog, Barney (pictured below). More information about the team and what they do can be found at https://whitesidesca.com/ on our brand new meet the team page. And with the rest of the office supporting and cheering them on along the pavements of Leeds the team are hoping to secure an average time of 55 minutes to make a top 40 finish.

With the fund raising in full swing we have had donations from friends, family, colleagues and even clients! The team are hoping to raise £500 and who knows next year may even tackle a longer run!
